冷氣酸臭或霉味可能來自蒸發器、風鼓、集水盤或排水系統的潮濕髒污，也可能是室內既有氣味被循環帶出。冷房停止並轉為送風時，殘留水分蒸發可能使氣味更明顯。應先確認來源，再決定濾網清潔、內部清洗、排水處理或其他改善方式。

Sour, musty or fermented odors can come from moisture and dirt on the evaporator, blower wheel or drain pan, from the drainage system, or from odors already present in the room. Odor may become more noticeable when cooling stops and the unit returns to fan operation. Inspection should first identify the source before deciding whether filter cleaning, internal cleaning, drainage work or another remedy is appropriate.
